Located in Martinborough, the hub of the Wairarapa’s wine region, Tirohana Estate is a boutique winery within walking distance of the town centre.
Tirohana Estate’s wines have won a number of international awards, including the Romeo Bragato award for Championship Pinot Noir NZ. Along with excellent Pinot Noirs, a specialty of the Wairarapa region, Tirohana Estate also grows Sauvignon, Riesling and Chardonnay grapes. The Cellar Door is typically open for tastings every Tuesday through Sunday, from 10:30 am to 5 pm.
Tirohana does more than create fine wines - the grounds and facilities are used for events and accommodation. The neat rows of vines on the grounds make Tirohana a lovely setting for weddings and other events, and the Colonial House offers lovely accommodation as a base for your trip to the region.
To complement the fine wines, Tirohana Estate also operates a restaurant serving lunch and dinner. Patio seating is perfect for warm summer afternoons, and offers a view of the vineyards. As the restaurant is very popular, reservations are recommended.
