Description
The tour starts at Kaitoke Regional Park with a walk across a swing bridge and a loop through pristine native rainforest. Next, enjoy a scenic drive over the Remutaka Ranges, stopping at the Summit for panoramic views.
Descending into Wairarapa, visit C’est Cheese in Featherston for a cheese tasting, followed by a chocolate tasting at Schoc Chocs in Greytown. Then, arrive in Martinborough to experience cellar door visits and wine tastings at award-winning wineries, followed by a vineyard restaurant lunch.
The tour continues along the South Wairarapa coast to Cape Palliser, with ocean views en route. Explore Ngawi’s fishing village, known for tractors hauling boats ashore. Visit the North Island’s largest permanent fur seal colony, and optionally climb to the Cape Palliser Lighthouse for sea views.
The day ends with a walk along Lake Onoke (Lake Ferry), learning about its history and watching local fishermen at work. Dinner is served either at the historic Lake Ferry Hotel or the Royal Hotel in Featherston, depending on availability.
