Directions to Kaitoke Regional Park
Kaitoke Regional Park is situated 12km north of Upper Hutt and is approximately 45 minutes drive from Wellington. In the foothills of the Tararua Mountain Ranges, the magnificant Park covers 2860 hectares. The Hutt River Gorge, bush clad hills, rimu, rata and beach forest await visitors.
The park features river pools suitable for swimming, pretty bush clad tracks and was also the location for the filming of Rivendell in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
The Hutt River Gorge is a great adventure for kayakers with grade 3 rapids and views of forest that's been untouched for hundreds of years.
