Description
The tour begins with guest pickup either from your hotel, the cruise port, or the iSite visitor centre. Please wait in visible areas such as reception or outside the iSite at the designated bus stop for your guide.
The first stop offers panoramic 360-degree views of Wellington, providing excellent photo opportunities with your guide available to assist. Next, the tour heads south along the coastline—Wellington’s beaches are never more than 3km (1.8 miles) away.
Enjoy fresh sea air as you travel along the coast and learn about Wellington’s maritime history, including its worst-ever disaster. The tour then visits Weta Cave, renowned for its work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Here you can explore memorabilia, a mini museum, and take photos with the Cave Trolls, though the Weta Cave experience itself is not included.
Returning to the city via Oriental Bay, the guide provides ongoing commentary. The next highlight is a ride on the Wellington Cable Car to Kelburn suburb, featuring more city views—this ride is included in the tour price.
Visit the Botanical Gardens, home to the award-winning Lady Norwood Rose Garden recognized in 2015 by the World Federation of Rose Societies. The tour concludes at Parliament’s grounds, offering views of the buildings, gardens, statues, and commemorative features.
