Directions to Circa Theatre Wellington
Popular theatre down by the harbour, next to Te Aro, staging the cream of international and Kiwi playwriting talent. Restaurant attached, comfortable seating and very professional productions.
Circa is one of Wellington's premier theatres, located down on the waterside, by Te Aro, at the top of Taranaki Street. This modern entertainment space has actually been going for over 35 years and has staged in excess of 300 different performances, everything from pantomime and musicals, to high drama, improv comedy and farce. A vital resource for the country's leading playwrights, stage technicians, producers, actors and directors, Circa strives to offer an eclectic mix of productions throughout the year, in an effort to entice audiences from all walks of life into the magic world of live theatre.
There are two performance spaces: Circa One, the main stage, which caters for high end productions requiring space, intense drama, and larger audiences; and Circa Two, a smaller studio, ideal for personal, intimate shows that really connect with the audience, who are only a matter of inches from the stage and, for the actors, can be scarier than the main stage, as there really is no hiding place!
Tickets are priced at around $46 for productions in Circa One, and between $10-$30 for Circa Two.
