From humble beginnings as a shoe factory, followed by stint as a wrestling gym, the site of 171 Cuba St. became a bathhouse. Now a popular bar and music venue, the building’s history is commemorated by the bar’s name: the San Francisco Bathhouse. Rocking hard since 1972, the venue has been home to a range of great local, national and international acts. Traditionally home to rock music, the club has branched out to host all kinds of genres, check the website to find out who’s playing.
Right in the heart of Wellington’s hip Cuba Street, San Fran Bathhouse has an excellent open-air balcony, perfect for basking in the sun on a warm summer day or enjoying the fresh air on a cool evening. Stop by for a drink after work and stick around until the show begins! Wednesdays are Acoustic nights and Thursdays are when the Comedy Club performs.
