Waitangi Park

Located right on the waterfront, next to Te Papa, the national museum, Waitangi park is an ideal place to rest or play.

Waitangi Park is Wellington’s newest and biggest urban park, designed as a respite from city living and offering something for everyone. With an expansive, well-kept lawn, the park attracts a collection of picnickers, frisbee-tossers, and football-kickers. Naturally it’s a great spot for people-watching too.

The lawn is a popular venue for events and concerts, so be sure to check if anything is on during your visit. Every Sunday morning, the adjacent parking lot hosts a farmer’s market with plenty of fresh produce and food trucks - a great place to buy a lunch you can enjoy at the park.
