Situated in Allen Street in downtown Wellington, Big Thumb has a team of chefs that specialise in Sichuan (Southern China) and Cantonese cuisine.
Open seven days a week, the restaurant's interior makes use of its high ceiling with giant lampshades, and has the look of modern China with red seating and yellow table cloths.
Every day, a Yum Cha menu is served between 11.00am and 2.30pm including tempting Dim Sum and Chinese tea. The menu is managed by a specialist Hong Kong Dim Sum chef.
An extensive a la carte menu is served from 5.30pm until late with a wide choice of both Sichuan and Cantonese style appetizers and mains, all prepared and cooked by specialist chefs. Set menus are also available.
A separate function room can seat up to 30 people and is ideal for group functions.
