Walk in the footsteps of the cast and crew of 'The Lord of the Rings' in Hutt Valley on a tour from Wellington. Learn how Peter Jackson and his team had the vision and talent to create amazing sets around New Zealand. After pick-up from one of the central pick-up locations, set off towards the natural beauty of the Hutt Valley. Leave the city behind and acquaint yourself with your fellow travelers. Behind-the-scenes stories and videos provided by your guide will keep you entertained. On location, a stories and picture folder will help bring those filming days to life and you will have the chance to explore.  Visit Dry Creek Quarry where the sets of Helms Deep and Minas Tirith were constructed. Go for a walk through Harcourt Park, used in the movies for scenes around Isengard - including Gandalf and Saruman discussing the newly found ring and Saruman ordering the nearby trees to be pulled down. Head to the Hutt River to see where Aragorn was washed ashore after his battle with Sharku and the Warg riders.   Your final destination will be Kaitoke Regional Park, the home of the Elves of Rivendell in the movies. After a relaxing picnic lunch, enjoy Rivendell before crossing a swing bridge for a short nature walk. Find the 1,400-year-old native Rata tree. Take a picture of New Zealand’s symbol – the silver fern – before returning to the city, arriving by 2:30 PM.
