Description
Walk in the footsteps of the cast and crew of 'The Lord of the Rings' on a half-day tour in Wellington. Learn how Peter Jackson and his team had the vision and talent to create amazing sets around New Zealand. After pick-up from one of the central pick-up locations, acquaint yourself with your fellow travellers. Once on location, your guide will help bring the filming days to life and you will have the chance to explore. Learn what it was like for everyone involved in the filming of these classics. See where the red carpet for two world premieres ran down to The Embassy Theatre. Drive to the top of Mount Victoria. Then, after viewing movie clips, take a walk through the “Hobbiton Woods” and see where filming began for The Lord of the Rings including scenes like “Get off the road”, “Shortcut to mushrooms” and “Race to the ferry”. After the walk, travel to the suburb of Miramar, home to New Zealand’s movie industry. Discover the hidden production studios and learn about what happens inside these very secretive facilities. Learn the latest news from “Wellywood” as you continue to the special effects company Weta Workshop and their Weta Cave. At the Weta Cave retail shop and museum, you will have the chance to pose for pictures with the life-sized trolls, William, Tom and Bert. Inside the shop, there are lots of movie memorabilia for sale and other props on display. You choose - do some souvenir shopping or just admire all their collection of props. Watch their video or take the Weta Cave workshop tour (extra cost). After enjoying your time in Miramar, return to the city by way of the scenic Oriental Bay.Includes
