Wellington Zoo is New Zealand’s first zoo and the world’s first carboNZero-certified zoo. Featuring over 500 native and exotic animals, it is open 364 days a year, closed only on Christmas Day.
Your general admission ticket grants access to all animals, daily informative talks, and vet-led demonstrations at The Nest Te Kōhanga, the onsite animal hospital.
The zoo operates from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with last entry at 4:15 PM. Visitors can enjoy outdoor picnic areas or purchase food at on-site venues including Rex Tremendous Cafe near the entrance and Banana Bar located centrally. The Zoo Shop offers sustainable and locally sourced gifts and souvenirs.
