Description
While on the Animals of Aotearoa group tour, you will have the chance to befriend many of Aotearoa’s local legendary animals. You will visit the Tuatara habitat first, to observe one of the oldest reptiles in the world. Next, spot the Kororā (Little Blue Penguin) as they swim around their aquatic habitat. Say hello to the Sheep and the Kunekune pig, before heading into the Kea aviary, where you will see these clever alpine parrots up close. Your experience will end in Te Piringa Iti, our off-display facility that houses some of Aotearoa’s smaller native reptiles, Moko Kākāriki (Wellington Green Geckos) and Whitaker’s Skinks.
During this tour, you will learn about the natural behaviors of these animals and hear how our team of expert Zoo Keepers care for them. This is a fantastic chance to understand the important role these species play in Aotearoa’s ecosystem.
Wellington Zoo is a charity caring for animals and people.
