Description
This guided tour showcases Wellington’s main attractions, beginning with panoramic views from Mount Victoria. You'll travel downtown past Te Papa Museum and notable landmarks such as St Gerard’s church before ascending Mount Victoria for city and harbour vistas.
Next, the tour continues along Lyall Bay and the rugged coast near Wellington Airport, with a chance to spot the South Island on clear days. The route passes Barrett’s Reef, the site of the 1968 ferry Wahine disaster.
On the Miramar Peninsula, visit Weta Studios and the Weta Cave, where you can purchase Lord of the Rings merchandise and capture more photos. The tour then follows the coast past Oriental Bay, ending downtown at the Wellington Cable Car base.
Take the historic cable car to the top to visit the museum and enjoy further harbour and city views. The tour continues through the Botanic Gardens and Lady Norwood Rose Garden, then past Parliament Buildings and finishes with a visit to Old St Paul's Cathedral, a prime example of Gothic Revival architecture. Entry inside the cathedral requires a donation.
