Wellington has easy road access, plus car ferries to the South Island. This makes it a popular destination for drivers who are after Motels in Wellington. Most have plenty of parking, modern rooms, and make a flexible, budget option.
Wellington Motels can be found both in the CBD and the suburbs. The southern end of Taranaki Street, around Webb Street in Mount Cook, has a fair few establishments. All have good facilities and easy access into the CBD. Adelaide Road, around the hospital, and Mount Victoria, also have a good concentration of motels. Evans Bay Parade and Oriental Parade have more scenic motels, many with harbour views. Alternatively, head north, to Lower and Upper Hutt, which have more basic motels with direct access to the motorway. Motels to the north of the city are also cheaper, and tend to be more spacious. If you don't mind commuting into the CBD (try a ferry across the harbour, from Petone), it might be worth saving a few dollars by bedding down somewhere like Porirua, Kelburn or Island Bay. The airport, south of the CBD, also has some good motels, but you'll have to compromise on the pretty views.
